Hi all, We are Achi and Pawan. Achi’s from the far-eastern state of Nagaland, and I am of Nepalese origin. At present we both work and live in Gurgaon, NCR. Achi works in Marketing and Business Development for a Facility management firm, and I work as a Tour Executive for an Inbound Travel company. Both of us are avid travelers and enjoy adventure. We both enjoy the great outdoors, and love experiencing new places and new cultures. We would love to be included in ‘The Great Driving Challenge’ as it would make for an interesting trip. As both of us enjoy reading and creative writing and I am a little into photography we would make good candidates for the challenge.

We are the best candidates because...

We would make the perfect candidates as we are first and foremost ‘travelers’. It’s the journey and the chance to experience new cultures and adventures that fill us with enthusiasm and hunger for more. We have both traveled extensively and are very flexible and non-fussy travelers, often during our college days, we have traveled to unheard of places on my 1972 Royal Enfield Bullet, both of us taking turns riding. We also love trying out local cuisine and making friends with the locals, this inevitably results in fabulous and memorable journeys wherever we go. Besides the adventure and traveling, both of us enjoy reading and creative writing and I enjoy photography, seeing the format for the challenge, this should make us perfect for the challenge.

Our Travel Plan

Our first option for the challenge would have been a drive through Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Besides being extremely interesting and photogenic, this is a part of India that most people are very ignorant about. We would love to have covered this region while on the ‘challenge’. Besides, both Achi and I are very familiar with the region and could make the blog very interesting indeed. Unfortunately the time-limit and distance from the starting point doesn’t allow us this POA. Ladakh and Spiti would have made another very picturesque journey but has to be scrapped for the same reason. Finally we decided on Mumbai-Goa-Ooty-Munnar-Kodaikanal-Pondicherry-Hampi-Back to Mumbai. The list given is not our route-plan or night-halts, but the highlights of our trip. Being flexible travelers we like to keep our options open and decide our stops as we go. The above is our basic itinerary, we shall also be going to a few national parks (Mudumalai, Periyar) en route.

Our Travelogue

The places that we have traveled to together and individually is fairly extensive, though there is so much more to see all over the world and so little time. Overseas, we haven’t been able to cover all that much, we are still working at it. There have been the usual short trips to Bangkok and Singapore, also a Scuba-diving holiday at Bali (Paradise!!). The few trips to Europe have covered most of the southern bit of the UK, a 4000+ km drive across Western Europe in a Hertz rental (going through Germany, Belgium, France, Spain and Italy). I also spent a few months in Germany a few years back and traveled a bit then. In Nepal, besides the cities, a few trips to the Terai jungles have been made (never laid eyes on a Tiger though) and a number of treks, most notably in the Annapurna and Everest areas. Similar treks have also been made all over the Indian Himalayas and a little bit in South India in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In India, we have covered all of the North-East. Also, been several times to Ladakh and Spiti region. Similarly, over the years, have covered most of Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Last year, went on a 3000+ Km ride through Rajasthan on my old bike (boy were we sore after that). Besides that, been to Varanasi, Allahabad, Bodh gaya, Kushinagar, Nalanda etc. as well. Another rather unexplored and interesting area I traveled to earlier this year is Orissa, very few know about the awesome tribals you get to meet there, it was a wonderful and very underrated destination. As we both did our college in Chennai, we have traveled extensively all over South India, a lot of the time on my old bike. We made numerous trips to mhabalipuram and Pondicherry. We also traveled to Ooty, Coonoor, Coimbatore, Bangalore etc. etc. Oh yeah, also went to Goa a number of times, and Scuba-diving at the Andamans. Phew! Quite a long list.
