We are Vikram Bopanna & Joshine Antony from Bangalore, but from varying backgrounds. Our dream car has been a Mitsubishi Cedia, the only one to take the rough with the smooth! Joshine is a personal fitness trainer by profession and an internationally certified one at that! Joshine started cycling when she found it difficult to hit the gym often and discovered that cycling was a good way to help reduce pollution. She has been part of the Kanchenjunga Mountain Biking expedition and the Tour of Nilgiris. Joshine is an ex-long distance swimmer and has done a national triathlon in the past; and a duathlon recently. Her passions are fitness, travelling, cycling, trekking, enjoys playing games and she simply loves dogs. Joshine has seen lot of places in northern and eastern India and some places in the south. Vikram Bopanna is a hard core automobile enthusiast into off-roading and restorations. Very keen on automobiles from a very young age, he revels in travelling, driving and auto conquests in general. By qualification, Vikram is a Mechanical Engineer with a fifteen year stint in coffee, and currently is into Chicken! Vikram has travelled and driven extensively across southern India and northern Indonesia during the course of work, literally mixing business with pleasure!

We are the best candidates because...

We are the best candidates since we are an exciting combination of a fitness professional and an automobile enthusiast, out to have an experiential adventure. The Mitsubishi Cedia challenge appeared like a bolt from the blue! Here was a car setting the tracks afire on all WRC circuits, as good as one could get. And there is this exciting driving event with lots of fun…..fame…fortune! This is almost akin to the blood, toil, tears during the English conquests! Bopanna was all ears and eyes! God, what else could any enthusiast ask for? The only missing link was a lady co-driver! Vikram Bopanna promptly went online and blogged, to get a like-minded lady to partner him for the event. Simultaneously, Joshine Antony who had seen the advertisement was equally keen on participating in the event! She got in touch with her acquaintances at Red Rooster Racing who patched up the couple together! Such was the excitement when the challenge was announced!! This versatile combination could only be as potent as a Cedia which can handle the vagaries of rough roads in the comfort of a sedan!

Our Travel Plan

Driving the Cedia Sports across varying itself is the greatest driving challenge! With the seductive and powerful Mitsubishi Cedia ripping down the western coast down to Goa, we plan to head inwards and up the Western Ghats towards Kollur and capture the rapturous jog falls in its pristine beauty! After heading back on beaten tracks, we shall follow the coastline until Mangalore. Thereafter, it’s an uphill journey to spectacular Coorg, the Scotland of India and a drive across the wildlife sanctuaries in Kerala to Manandavady, Sultan’s Battery and then onto Ooty. Which other car than a Cedia can handle this? A trough and a peak again! Ooty, Coonoor, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Udumalpet and the breath taking high ranges of Munnar! A virtual paradise on earth! The journey will continue down to Tekkady, Kodaikanal and then the eastern coast. Pondicherry followed by the historical Mahabalipuram, Chennai, and the holy hill of Thirupati. The home-coming drive will be spell binding through Bellary, the archeological delight Hampi, Koppal...Gokak and finally the silky smooth golden quadrilateral back to Mumbai! The rough with the smooth, the beaten track and the velvet smooth roads and the Mitsubishi Cedia! And then, will be the start of a new journey!

Our Travelogue

Joshine Antony has travelled across the himalayan ranges comprising Leh, Manali, Kullu, Agra, Ajmer, Gwalior, Chandigarh, Shimla, Dharamshala, Srinagar, Jammu and cycled all over Sikkim and Kerala, across the 'Nilgiris', the blue mountains, and the length and breadth of Karnataka Vikram Bopanna has travelled to London, Hamburg, Frankfurt, De Jean, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta and extensively in Sumatra island of Indonesia. In India, Bopanna has done extensive off-roading in the hilly and pictursque terrains of Coorg Again an exciting combination of intensive Indian travel with extensive travel abroad!

I know vikram for the last 15 years. He has always been a keen auto enthusiast. He is very passionate about gadgets in general & vehicles in particular. The Jeep he had converted from an ordinary looking one to a real US military jeep was extraordinary considering the details he had taken care of in the vehicle. He has been a good driver always & never misses an opprtunity to drive long distance irrespective of the time. I wish him all the best & he is no doubt a deserving candidate for this challenge.

Vikram is a car enthusiast to the core. He is great at mechanics of Car Engines and can strip a car engine to its bare parts and put it back again. He loves to roam the tough terrain of Coorg(proudly) in his US Army Jeep which was refurbished by his own hands. A good freind of mine, a person to ride the river with.
