We are Garima and Sidhanshu Kale from the city of opportunity - Mumbai. We are together for 10 years now in our journey of life. We are both corporate lawyers. Our court was set in 1999 when we first met in our law college. Shortly after that we realized that we were actually on the same side. We are of opposite natures, she was the studious kinds and I was the kewler one in the college. She was the first bencher and I the talkative guy of the last bench. Cricket was my first love and she loved reading here course material. It was written all over the wall “OPPOSITES ATTRACT” and since then we have the best of both worlds (Refer our testimonial for each other on our respective orkut profiles). We have spent some exciting times together, be it college days, family functions, our wedding, honeymoon, in fact every moment that we are together. Of course we have had our share of fights as well, but curry would not have been so delicious if it was not spicy. Life in Mumbai can be tough at times and it exhausts you every now and then. We have successfully provided the support system to each other to over come every testing moment. Most of the weekdays are long as we put in lot of hours in office, but whenever we get a chance we zoom out of Mumbai in our "SID MACHINE". Speaking of which, SID MACHINE is our Mitsubishi Lancer car. It’s a black lean and mean machine. From childhood I had this dream of having a car which is one of a kind. My brother and I used to look at modified cars in awe. When I bought my SID MACHINE, it was a dream come true for me as this car had the best of engines available in market today and was driven by real Mitsubishi fans. In fact Garima and I were window shopping on Linking Road Bandra one day when a Mitsubishi vroomed past us and Garima said I want this car. It is this common likeness that we share on various things that makes us ideal for each other. Well I gave her keys to the car on our wedding day. After driving it for a year or so, my inner child remembered his dream of having a unique car. Garima was all in support for this, so we got it modified and this is how SID MACHINE was born (refer to our pictures). It sure is a head turner. We love travelling by road which gives us the freedom to choose our path and to spend time wherever we find a nice picturesque place. So that’s how we met. With the blessings of our parents and family and with the love which we have for each other, we wish to participate in and win this challenge.

We are the best candidates because...

We love traveling together and this time we have a purpose behind it. We hear people saying that you should live in you present and not think about the “PAST” or worry about the “FUTURE”. We cannot DISAGREE any more. It is pointless to travel around and enjoy when we know that all this beauty that surrounds us is not going to last forever, unless we wake up and do something to protect it. The wildlife, the flora and fauna that surrounds us has amazing life forms hidden in it, which we have been carelessly eliminating from our planet. Our purpose would be to travel around India through some of the most exotic WILDLIFE SANCTUARIES and publish pictures and blogs about them on our page. We want the whole world to know about the real earth and start respecting the life around them. Unless people know more about our neighbours and appreciate the beauty that they bring around us, it would be difficult to ask them to do something to conserve it. Pictures speak more than words and that’s why it would be important for us to give something so special to our readers that they can keep some of the amazing snaps in their mind forever. “Humme apne kal ko sawarna hai”. But are we forgetting something? Yes of course we are. In fact most of us have, but that is going to change soon. We are talking about the hands that have built the India that we live in today. These are the hands that held you without fail whenever you tripped and saved you from falling. They made you what you are today. Yes we are writing about each of such parents of India who have been left in old age homes by their “loved” ones. We talk about progress, we talk about career, we even talk about creating homes on the moon, but what we forget is that we have failed miserably to maintain our homes on earth. We want to visit some of the OLD AGE HOMES and spend some quality time with the residents. We would love to help them feel that they are wanted and they can contribute even in today’s mad world. We propose that we collect some life experiences from them and publish for the readers to see the world from their eyes. We would propose to them to write about their life experiences and short stories that their grand parents used to tell them. This will not only keep them occupied but will also provide us with a golden opportunity to have a collection of wonderful experiences and stories. If possible we would also try to get a book published out of this collection. “Humme apne kal ko sawarna hai”. And this is how we will be able to protect our “kal” (tomorrow) and our “kal” (yesterday).

Our Travel Plan

What we want to experience through this journey is that we cover all places right from beaches, temples, historic sites, jungles, wildlife, hill stations, plains, cities towns and villages. When the ambition is to cover all possible places within a time span of 10 days, the travel plan should be well thought out. So here it goes. Day -1 Our journey will start from Mumbai and take Agra Bombay Road (AB Road) towards Indore via Nasik, the holy city. Will take a detour to Maheshwar and seek Lord Shiva’s blessing for the journey. Day 2 we will start from Indore, visit Ujjain, the city of temples en route to Bhopal. Bhopal, the city of lakes, is our home town. This is where we first met. Day 3 - We plan to visit “Aasra” old age home in Bhopal to start our initiative (refer our purpose). We chose Aasra as we visit Bhopal often and therefore can have a continuous bond with them. Day 4 - After taking blessing of our parents we will proceed to Bhimbetika. This is the earliest known rock paintings in India. From here we proceed to Jabalpur. Day 5 – Visit Bedaghat and then proceed towards Bandhavgarh. Do elephant ride and shoot (with camera) the wildlife. Day – 6 After early morning walk in the jungle and breakfast in the wild we will proceed towards more wild fun. Reach Kanha National Park and feel the nature. Day 7 – Roam around with Bysons and if we get lucky get a glimpse of the royal tiger. Day 8 proceed towards Pachmari, the summer capital of Madhya Pradesh of the time of British (Shimla of Madhya Pradesh). Day 9 Proceed towards Akola via Bhaisdahi and Chikaldhar. These places boast of their scenic beauty. Day 10 Rise and shine, it’s the last day of the driving challenge. Double up towards Mumbai to grab the winner’s prize.

Our Travelogue

We have the best parents that God has ever created. Since childhood we have had the opportunity to travel throughout India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Bengal. Both of us have covered the entire India with our parents. And now, we have an opportunity to travel together. Our first journey as a couple was to Mauritius, which is a fantastic place to be at. We were there on our honeymoon. It has the perfect weather conditions and perfect ambience to intoxicate the honeymooners. This place is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. Since then we have traveled a lot within India to places such as Gangtok, Darjling, Pelling, Kalingpong, Nathula Pass, Tsangu lake, Dahanu, Bordi, Murud, Alibag, Andaman Islands, Shridi, Trambakeshwar, Srivardhan, Harihareshwar, Lonavala, Khandala, other places including coastal areas on konkan range. We have visited most of these places on road. We have been on snow covered mountains, plains, hills, coasts, islands and what not. We have been married now for little over two years and have managed to use all modes of travelling (air, sea, rail and road) for these exciting trips. We have learnt from our experience that we compliment each other extremely well. I love driving while she loves to trek around. We love taking snaps, some of them we have uploaded here. We think travelling is all about being together, visiting places, enjoying the fruits of Mother Nature, capturing moments and spreading our experiences with others. Since it is not possible to remain in high spirits all the time, it becomes necessary that you have a dependable partner. Both of us pull each other up when the other one is a bit tired and exhausted. This is where we have travelled and wish to travel the whole world together. We thank God for bringing us together and our parents for what we are and where we are.
