Total Vote(s) : 574 | Total Testimonial(s) : 15

Hi, We're Jo n' Asha; Ex-Colleagues, good friends & now engaged.. kidding ourselves?? I hope not ;-) One - pragmatic down to earth, jovial & loving, the other - head in the clouds, creative & temperamental. Jo keeps me grounded & he says.. well probably that I'm more trouble than he counted for when he asked me out that fateful first time! By Profession: Jo is a Database developer (Thomson Reuters) working in Bangalore for the last 5 years. Being the son of an Army officer, he has been travelling from Jammu-Afghanistan-Cochin & anywhere else his dad was posted. & I'm a System Specialist (HCL,Singapore). The only consolation for being away from my family is the opportunity to explore a new location with each new assignment & keep 'em coming ;-) By Heart: We share a common love for our wonderful family, friends, good food n' of course TRAVELLING.. Waiting for those breaks from routine life when we get to travel to new places & see new wonders. One of our plans is that we'll cover all the states of India & then move on to covering all 7 wonders of the world. For starters that is, then who knows.. ;-) Avid viewers of numerous Travel shows, we've often wondered.. If only we had a job like that, to travel world-over, meet new people, learn about new cultures, see how they go about their daily lives earning their Roti, Pitha or Bread.. if u will. Try the amazing Cuisines that each new geography has on offer to satisfy our palates, maybe even learn a new language. Wow! now there's a dream come true.. & so, a mail from a friend about this competition led to a call to each other, needless to say we both LOVED the idea & here we are :-) We've done our bit & now its upto you guys to vote for us & keep us going!

We are the best candidates because...

Mother Nature marvels us in all her glory, each glimpse we've caught of her on the few parts of the globe we've travelled - we've stood in awe! Her crystal clear skies & the mysterious depths of the oceans. Now calm, the next moment wrecking havoc! Her harsh black & snow covered sentinels, now standing guard, next melting to fill up so many life giving water sources. Circle of life they aptly call it, ain't it amazing.. This & so much more.. she's painted from her canvas, making us restless every so often, telling us to get our butts out of those stuffy office chairs & go take a peak.. Get refreshed with a dip in the clear waters of one of the numerous water falls. Fill our lungs with the crisp morning air on a trek through the many trails in & around forests, mountains, stretch some lazy unused muscles & simply feel Alive! & exactly Why are we the best candidates for this competition, that would be the simple little facts of our lives such as the one that Jo's a driving fanatic & that I'm good with words (so much for modesty ;-), & of course we share a love for Nature & Travelling! Getting around in a Cool new Cedia & being able to mingle with the localites of most Indian regions is made easy by the convenient fact that amongst the two of us we share a repertoire of most Deccan languages: Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu, Telegu, Tamil & of course Hindi & English. & finally, with technology comes blogging.. & with blogging comes an opportunity to share these wonderful experiences with the world. This is just what we guarantee to do :-) -> & that is why we're a cinch for this Driving Challenge. Great Driving Challenge, bring it on!!!

Our Travelogue

South India: ----------------- Kerala (Native - Jomy), Udupi (Native - Asha), so that's two beautiful locations we know in & out. Both places harbor many pristine white beaches, historic temples, great food & so much more. We've driven to most of the scenic places in & around Bangalore such as: Nandi Hills, Mysore, Mangalore, Ooty, Coorg, Dandeli, Goa, Pondicherry, Wayanad, Dandeli ... Particularly memorable one's were the drive down to Wayanad & then to Ooty from Bangalore. Trekking is almost an every other weekend routine for Jo, we've trekked through: 1. Sidderbetta - Where we did a bit of cave exploration 2. Attapadi - A tough jungle trek which tests one's limits & u get to see the tribal's simple way of life. 3. Kumar Parvatha - done by Jo with his crazy office gang, I'm still wondering when I'll get to try this. 4. Kodachadri 5. "PakshiPadalam" located in Tirinalli near the border of Kerala & Karnataka is a trek very few people have tried out in Wayanad. Rafting (on Sita nadi, Kali nadi & the Ganges), is a super-favourite activity given that all 3 times we've wanted to go right back to the start & start paddling! It has taught us the respect those deceptively calm waters command & the challenge it poses to many fellow rafters. The thrill of the rapids, the adrenaline rush, then the calm.. soothing water spray on your face as u realize.. being alive never felt better. Kayakking was also a fun adventurous activity we tried in Sita Nadi, Shivmoga. I tried my hand at cable skiing recently in Bangkok, can't say I'm any good at it, yet. I hear there's one such spot near ECP, Singapore. Guess what I'll be upto over the weekend ;-) In North India: -------------------- We were lucky to take 10 days off from work for a trip to Delhi, Hrishikesh (Rafting here, is simply thrilling), Haridwar (one of the cleanest railway stations in India - thrz a fun fact for u), Agra(one just can't get enough of looking at the Taj in awe, don't u think), Ranikhet & Nainitaal. Then a good friend's wedding was another bahana to take off to Chandigarh, attend a big fat North Indian wedding & head off towards Shimla, Kufri in search of that elusive white miracle called snow, alas it escaped us again. Not for long.. Chandigarh (this one, courtesy a good friend's wedding) The history surrounding North India, like the plans for a bigger wider Qutb Minar, Shah Jahan's plans for building a Taj of Black marble had it materialized, can you just imagine how bewitching a sight the two would've been. ABROAD -------------------------------------- 1. London - Very British.. Windsor Castle reminded me of those books I'd read & the movies I'd watched. Summer there is like a pleasant Autumn day in good ole Bangalore. Yummy Fish n' chips & those every day rainy office trips, all part of my memories tucked away safely till the next time I try to catch a glimpse of the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Another memorable trip was by train, to Brighton - The first pebble beach I'd seen on a rare summer day during my stay there. Scenic, relaxing & very much a family event. I can just see this cute couple with a tiny totter, mom n' dad holding up her plump baby arms n letting her tiny pink feet dip in waves. Her very first time, she seemed to like it too.. :-) Amongst the tourist favourits, I'd suggest a cruise across the Thames surrounded by all the Iconic buildings, bridges & a lively guide describing their importance. Also the memorable walk past Trafalgar Square, maybe a visit to the museum. 2. Kualalampur, Malaysia - A birthday treat trip.. ;-) - The iconic Twin Towers in KL is a must watch, more so at night. The Underwater world even if in a man-made environment captivated us with sooo many amazing creatures of the Sea. Sharks, Manta Rays, giant tortoises. Langkawi - Snorkelling, Scuba diving in the Andaman Ocean's clear blue waters is incomparable - We tried snorkelling & for a few blissful hours, got a glimpse into a whole other planet. 3. Singapore ------------------ Uniquely Chinese, Malay, Thai, Phillippine & Tamilian all at the same time is Singapore. The brightly lit n' festive streets of China Town with mouth watering Sea food.. Awesome place to shop (take note ladies, This Fashion & Orchard Road) & sooo many gorgeous beaches in & around Sentosa. We set off every weekend for a walk through the beautiful lush gardens of Mount Faber, the Chineese, Japaneese gardens. In fact the country can aptly be described as Tropical! Rainy, humid, sunny.. Almost all year round. & yes, the whole clinically clean place hype is quite true, so are the ridiculously high fines which is why the place is so clean in the first place. Duh!! 4. Bangkok, Thailand --------------------------------- Bangkok was like a heady cocktail - of bright colors, scenic Landscapes, artistic Temples & gracious people. Indeed a Land of Smiles, many strangers came to our aid when we approached them for directions & who went out of their way to help us. Tiger Temple - tops my list of Things To Do in Thailand, an experience I'm never going to forget. We played with tiger cubs, helped feed them & the remaining time kept dodging their attacks on our legs or backs. Cute as can be but not meant for cuddling :-p Wat Pho & Wat Arun - Beautiful temples, one with the world famous Reclining Buddha & another with beautiful hand crafted Porcelain work everywhere that eye could see. Phuket's Fantasea - A live show of Thai dancers, martial artists, singers, finger nail dancers, Acrobats & baby elephants. We saw it all, in one eventful hour. We did miss the Grand Palace & a visit to Ayuttaya & of course the controversial Pattaya beach - all for another visit to Thailand. What say U?

I have known both Jo n Asha for the last 4 years... vivacious, practical, with a sharp and witty sense of humour is how i would describe Asha. And of course anyone would be lucky to have her as a friend cos once she takes u under her fold, she is always there for u. Providing solid, dependable advice, and a shoulder to cry on if u need it. Jo on the other hand is this upbeat, bubbly little kid always brimming with ideas and looking for adventures. One of the best people I know and definitely someone i treasure. believe me life is so much more fun with the two of them around :)

Poornima

Mangala

Asha and Jomy.. two of my closest friends and one incredible couple. I must say that I am one lucky person to be knowing these 2 guys.. Asha as already described as highly ambitious , super smart and absolute caring.. Jomy this amicable little kid, with terrific intellect and a 100% Mr Dependable.. Together they make a world that is larger than life.. Adventure runs in their blood and they are always on toes waiting to conquer something new%u2026 Aashu & Jo.. you guys are meant to be in GREAT DRIVING CHALLENGE!!!!!... Good Luck :)

Sai

Vivacious is an understatement when describing Jomy. On the lookout for new things and take the road less traavelled. A mallu to the core, he is always on a quest to mallu-fy all his friends. Elegance describes Asha best and can be all feminine all the while and suddenly turn tomboy when given the right key. Both have already been exploring places in India and abroad and will continue to do so until they've exhausted either their wealth or places to see. Both go great guns together and combined, have the right amount of passion, perseverence and intelligence to come out of challenges. All the best guy and gal.

ashwal

Jomy is the guy for adventure. i like the "never say no" attitude in him. I have been to lot of treks with him. Always have admired his courage and entusiasm. I am sure he will definitely be the dude for this :). Asha has to be there for his support. Together they are the perfect couple for this. Go for it guys...Enjoy :)
