Hi, i'm Kartik, a Creative Director in an advertising agency, who frankly can't do anything else too well apart from writing. And that's my beautiful wife Sunita, marrying her was the best decision i've made in my whole life. After 15 years of knowing each other we still feel like we just met. Not a dull moment in those 15 years. We both are movie buffs who still slip out like thieves at night to watch a late night show without waking our daughter up. We're also big on nature and animals. In fact our house is a mini zoo. We have 3 rabbits, 4 dogs, a goat, fish, and a guinea pig (which unfortunately died recently). Planning holidays, going on one, and planning the next holiday even before we've returned from one, is what makes life enjoyable to us. We both are into the creative arts, i'm a creative writer who dabbled in professional theatre for a while, and sunita is a queen of all creative arts. She paints, does pottery, is a brilliant storyteller to children, and keeps a beautiful home.

We are the best candidates because...

We're sure every couple who enlists for this contest loves traveling like us. But what makes us different i would say is not just the ability to blog and take pictures well. But the fact that we love going to places that have hardly been explored. Let me give you an example. Where do most people go for their honeymoon? Switzerland, Maldives, Kodaikanal, Shimla, Goa. But not us. We spent a month traveling through the most unexplored parts of UP. We stayed in places that tourism had not yet touched. Like Binsar, the highest wildlife sanctuary in India is here. Where even electricity had not yet reached. So at 6 pm it was lights out. To some people that may be a lot of hardship for a honeymoon, but we loved every minute of it. and to this day enthrall our friends with stories of that trip. So that's why we think we're the best candidates. Because we can write, take nice pictures, and most importantly have amazing stories to share with all of you. Also, since we're lovers of nature, we promise that ours will be a GREEN drive. Through every part of the journey we will make sure to spread the word of reducing carbon dioxide emission and keep our carbon footprint to a minimum.

Our Travel Plan

Since the drive has to start and end at Mumbai, we've decided to do Mumbai -Amritsar, which is 1700 kms one way. A beautiful route that will take us through 3 beautiful states - Gujarat, Rajasthan and Punjab. It will be fascinating to see the terrain change along the way, from city to desert to green fields. Of course the best pay off of this journey will be seeing the Golden Temple. 3500 kms (approximately) in 10 days. Should be fun.

Our Travelogue

We have travelled the length and breadth of this beautiful country, and extensively abroad. We have gone camping in Sikkim, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, lived in Assam with no electricity, been chased by Tuskers in Sri Lanka, studied in New Hampshire- US, lived as a student in switzerland, lived as locals in Punjab. Our most memorable road trip has to be the 2000 km journey we made from Chennai to Mumbai in 2005. We spent 14 days on the road stopping at places that we loved. Here are some of the places we'll go back to any day - Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Thailand, Sikkim, Australia, Binsar, Ranikhet, Goa, Kovalam.
