Randhir Mishra & Pratima Mishra

We are both nature and wildlife enthusiasts. While our professions and personalities are diverse, our love to travel and explore new things binds us together. We enjoy seeing new places, meeting new people and experiencing new tastes, cultures and thinking. We have treasured these memories in form of pictures, mails and now slowly converting them into travelogues that we intend sharing with the world. We truly believe that by sharing these with our friends and family, we bring to them the beautiful world as we experience it and for us it feels like going through the experience one more time. Road trips are really special for us; our honeymoon involved driving from the tip of New Zealand’s North Island to South Island. We just landed with a self drive car hired, first night booked in a romantic beach resort, a road map of this wonderful country and our passion to take us through what remains an incredible epitome of our togetherness…

We are the best candidates because...

Very simply put, we see the world with an eye of passion and devotion. While Pratima brings the excitement of the wit and enthusiasm to any place we go, Randhir brings the details and the history. we both complement each other in terms of looking at all the aspects of the place we visit. We are nature, wildlife, birding and history enthusiast. And therefore we will be able to give a very comprehensive and enjoyable report of our experiences to you all... Recommend you to read our blog for one such illustration... The route we are planning is one that we are very comfortable and fond of. We have seen some of the popular destinations in our route, but our idea now is to dig one level deeper. We know the locals in most of these places and they would be our guides to unearth the lesser known aspects of these places.

Our Travel Plan

We are planning ur route. We intend to include the rivers, monuments, religious sites, nature comprising of its elements, birds, animals and the zeal. India unfolds mystery and history every mile and we are very sensitive to include that in our route too. Roughly we would traverse through Maharashtra, Karnataka, Konkan, Goa and the western ghats....

Our Travelogue

While the slideshow gives you the glimpse of our travel trails, we try our best to capture the same in words… Randhir My tryst with road trips started very early. The earliest one I can barely remember (I less than 5 years old!) was along with 8 others from the family of Bro, Mom & Dad, 1 Grandpa, 2 Grand Moms, Dad’s grand mom and a Man Friday set out on this monumental quintessential char dham trip. We all packed in a 1970’s ambassador Mark I which roared from Bhilai in Chattisgarh to Bhusaval to Dwarka to Haridwar-Badrinath - Patna-Darbhanga and back to Bhilai… a trip of over 3000 Kms covered in 27 days and driven entirely by dad and navigated by some very basic maps. This Mark I Ambassador took us along many road trips as far and wide as Puri, Kathmandu, Khajuraho, Indore, Ujjain, Jhansi, Delhi, Agra and numerous local short trips. I grew up inheriting the love for roads, passion for exploration and the romance of the Indian country roads, the diversity of experiences, rich local culture and a lifetime of memories… In my college days, my faithful Kawasaki Baja RTZ took me around Manipal-Udupi-Mangalore, Coorg, Baroda, Raurkela and finally Bangalore… As I started my job, the Santro took the roads to Tirupati, Mysore and lot of local places of interest. I also had a memorable trip with friends where we covered the entire length of UK from London-Midlands-Loch Ness-Edinburgh-Inverness-Gloucester-London and all this in early spring- an experience each of us must go through… the sights of the never ending Mustard fields, rolling lush green meadows, the millions of livestock in the farms, the magical English country side, opulent churches, occasional castles and never ending lines of Daffodil – truly Wordsworth coming alive… Pratima I got my first vehicle, a Maruti Omni van, at the age of 17. Dad and Mum were very particular about not allowing me to ride a two wheeler, so with impeccable logic I asked for four!!! By the time I was 19, I was driving confidently all over the country. I still remember the joy I used to feel at being able to take off, windows rolled down(those were the days when "pollution" was a word in the dictionary), music on high and a smooth drive ahead of me! Coming from a conservative Marwari family, it was my first taste of freedom, my biggest thrill of being in control, of mapping my path......oh! the metaphors it held to my naive little heart! I became the designated driver to my family and took them on many road trips to Tirupati, Kerala, Goa, Chennai, Mysore etc. Since then, I have driven many thousands of kms, in varied terrain, various continents, changing weather, many vehicles - but the romance, the thrill of being at the wheel with an open road in front of me, takes me back years instantly! Together We have been almost objects of envy for the amount of travel we have done together. What started as a honeymoon road trip in New Zealand where we covered about 1800 KM scaling the entire length of the country in 8 days. Besides bringing the romance of nature into our love story, we realized that a significant part of happy life together would be spent travelling. Since then, we have been on the roads of Mauritius, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Spain, Sri Lanka, UK, US, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia. Whether it was driving on the "Romantic Route" in Bavaria, the Autobahn in Germany, the varying landscapes in New Zealand, each trip has been special and full of memories to treasure. In India we have made Cauvery our ally by tracing her life defining route from Coorg till she leaves Karnataka. Our plan is to see her meeting Bay of Bengal at Cuddalore someday… We have driven around Rajasthan, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Goa and Tamil Nadu, and our thirst remains unslaked …

Urska

I hosted Randhir and Pratima in Slovenia and spent some time with them in Budapest while they lived there. Had a great time :) Fun couple!!!! Pratima tought me how to make a good coconut chutney ;) and dosas.

oscar

You cant blame me anymore for not making the effort to meet you guys in Bangalore. If we've hardly met in the past few years, its because you're always on the road!... :) Way to go!... or... miles to go I guess. All the best.

AK Rao

the Mishra couple are the coolest ones coz there are no pretensions and so tension free. love their company.

Kalyani

All the best...

Chiranjeevi

Randhir and Pratima are a great couple who live an exciting and experiencing and experimenting life...they are the best to do this adventure and bring out the best of the places they will be covering..

Murli N

I have known Randhir and Pratima for over two years. They are young, very smart, knowledgeable, imaginative, creative, adventurous, photogenic and communicate and express themselves very well. They are the prototypical Model 21st Century Indians. Can't think of a more deserving couple to win this Challenge.

Jeet

Pratima and Randhir are active hitchhikers. They love going places, meeting people, and trying out adventurous events. I still remember both sharing their experiences when they came back from Spain post Randhir's 2 years assignment. We spent almost 4-5 hours listening to the stories, experiences, and looking at great pictures. Wish you all the best folks. Way to go! Cheers :) Jeet

Ramachandran A. S.

Randhir has always impressed by going off the beaten track. His enthusiasm is infectious. His grave voice camouflages a great sense of humour.

Negi

since the past 6 years since i have known these Mishrajis, have realized they are wookie, off the beaten track but oozing excellence in anything they do. while they are different they have an excellent grasp of the ordinary mortals desires, and thought. Randhir's thinking captures details most would miss and his ability to articulate it through humor and lucidity in telling the tale (whether corporate war story or a warm human incident) makes you feel like you were there yourself. all the best guys, do it and narrate for the arm chair guys like us.

kavita tewary

We have known Randhir and Protima for a really long time. They are a wonderful couple who take time to make their friendships special and lasting For me personally they are like family .I still remmember our first trip to Tirupati from Bangalore in Randhir's brand new Santro...an overnight drive with the puri bhaji's,a hyper 2 year old ..and 5 adults...WOW.. it was FUN!!!! I do wish them all the Best for their new adventure :)

Ajit

Well, what defines them is: Fun, Enthusiasm, Energy, Surprise, Love, Adventure, Knowledge, Wisdom... Its a long list of ingredients which makes them perfect for this sort of an endeavour! All the best...Make us proud!

Janmejai

I have been part of MISHRA ROADWAYS traveling with them on a road trip through Hungary, Austria and Germany. People like these need to put away from time to time on expeditions in a car, boat, airplane for larger benefit of their family and friends!

Payal

Not only do they travel as much as they do, but they inspire me to do the same! I have been lucky to join them on several ocassions. My best trip with them was to the Kanha National Park. We were fortunate enough to be led by a tiger half way in to the safari!! I owe my enthusiasm for bird watching to them. I could not even identify a Myna until I did a trip with them! They make it their quest to learn and update themselves about the flora and fauna. Even if you miss a trip with them, their photography narrates their travel and adventures with equal ardor!!

Vijayaraghavn

A very interesting couple always does interesting things, inspired by life. Congratulations and wishing Randhir and Pratima all the very best in achieving their destiny. Vijay and Sudha

Kavita

Randhir & Pratima - a great couple, fun to be with, always helpful, cheerful, fun loving, made for each, compliment each other, intelligent, sweet, a long list of adjectives, can go on and on and on... i am happy to have them as my friends.

Anuroop Ranjan

I have known Randhir Mishra for several years now. The GDC and he seem perfectly mated. If he drives, hopefully we can finally have peace on earth and food for every house. Inshallah! May the glory of God survive thanks to the meandering ways of his wayward son, Randhir! He must DRIVE!
