The better looking one is Shivali and the cutting chai, that's me...Prakash! Both ad executives & as they say in advertising "always looking to do something different" I love music (blues is the flavor of the month!) and driving. She loves driving (the car & me around the bend, not necessarily in that order!) and collecting shot glasses from around the world!

We are the best candidates because...

Are we extensively travelled? No! (actually Shivali is, US, UK, Bangkok, Singapore!) Are we adventure freaks? Not really (that's if you ignore the occassional white water rafting, trekking, bungee jumping etc!)! But we have been looking for a good trip for quite sometime now! We've done the regular weekend getaways - to Kihim, to Bhandardhara, to Nashik, to Pune even Goa! But from the time the Mumbai-Trivandrum trip happened, we've been bitten, smitten...ADDICTED would be the right word! But working in the same office has it's disadvantages - can't take long leave at the same time! The Great Driving Challenge solves that too! The boss will have a major problem saying NO to this!

Our Travel Plan

Having done south once, the idea is to go north. The trip, in our head, looks like this: Mumbai-Udaipur-Pushkar-Bikaner-Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Mount Abu-Mumbai. Can we do it? In 12 days? We'll see! A little more homework required here! But we've another small problem, there's a little south trip that's kinda tempting us! Mumbai - bangalore- pondicherry - trivandrum - mangalore - goa - mumbai. Again too much in to short a time? Think not, especially since we did MUM-TVM-MUM in just 6 days! Finally it looks like it'll be decided by a TOSS! :)

Our Travelogue

What does one do when suddenly you find that you've cleared all the work and there's nothing (major) in sight for another week or two? What does one do when you haven't made any plans to capitalise on this sudden but much welcome free time? We just packed our bag, borrowed a Lonely Planet india edition from my sis-in-law and headed out South. No planning, no pre-decided stops. Just a plan to go with the flow. Wasn't even sure how far we wanted to go.The only serious decision was NO DRIVING AT NIGHT! The other smart thing that we did - a complete check of the car (the poor baby was completing her 5th birthday) & changed the headlights and all the tyres! After a rather ferocious buying of supplies (Gatorade and lotsa chocolates - Perk & Five Star & bananas - didn't want to have meals while driving!) the journey started...first Goa then Karwar then Mangalore, then Calicut, Kochi, Quilon and then Trivandrum! And back the same way with a 3 day stop-over in Paolem, to meet up with some old friends - Kings and Smirnoff! Phew! It was good fun and a great break...just writing about it, makes us wanna do it all over again! This trip was special in many ways but what really stood out was the complete UNPLANNED trip...letting the body and the car decide how far we could go!
