Jayant Gopinath Nitsure & Savita

Total Vote(s) : 198 | Total Testimonial(s) : 31

I am Jayant (46 years), working as Executive-Secretarial in a manufacturing company at Pimpri Chinchwad. My wife Savita (38 years) is looking after the house. My son (18 years) and daughter (16 years) are learning in 12th standard where as my another daughter (12 years) is learning in 8th standard. My mother (74 years) also stays with us. We are rather, typical “Puneri”, who are mostly famous for an action some kind of different than others. I believe, Traveling at own is also a part of such actions. Form 13th July onwards, I have called votes mainly from following 3 social sites/forums 1) http://www.misalpav.com/node/8551 2) http://www.maayboli.com/node/9347 and 3) On Oukut at Cobra community http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#CommMsgs.aspx?cmm=235072&tid=535774765498985... (for Members only) Besides, asked for vote to few close relatives/friends.

We are the best candidates because...

We are best, because both we have a lot of experience of travel together, we love vehicles, we love on freedom of travel independently, we know the benefits of travel, we like to see & mix-up with people & understand them, we know the reality on Roads, and most important, that we know how to Trust on each other, how to make a vehicle as a part of yourself, & how to respect the mother nature. ******** Now a days, traveling for Honeymoon immediately after marriage is a common & normal practice. However, after returning from Honeymoon, most of the people has to get back to their routine work-life, again for years together. In our case, we could not go for Honeymoon. But within 4 years after marriage, we decided, to visit my native places in Konkan area, which were not seen by Savita. Even I was visiting there after a big gap of 21 years. Since then from 1995 till today, both we traveled together at our own. We never used any hired vehicle with driver or any other transport system. We never frightened to carry our kids even if they are 2 or 3 years old. Off course, by adhering well preplan and every possible safety measure, we could travel safely a lot. When I look back in the past, I realize that every new travel was increasing a confidence level in between both of us. Every travel gives us a new positive sight to look towards the remaining world situated outside our sweet home. That the world which is full of joy, adventure, harmony, sympathy, human relations and the real nature. Every time, every travel made us to realize that we are a very small part of the nature and whatever importance if belongs to us, it is only because we are part of the great Important Nature. Besides this, Savita has a very good experience of traveling at North India and some part of South using hired transport system/agencies. She traveled with two daughters & her mother 4 years ago for Kashi Yatra. Even before marriage, with her mother she went in Karnataka. All this gives her a very good experience of travel in people, facing each & every situation peacefully.

Our Travel Plan

Anywhere, under the sky, may be on express ways or highways, or maybe, where at least a bullock cart goes, on the roads joining the people together, in open fresh air, in the search of humanity and nature’s gravity, we wish to drive together, a four wheeler. However, this is what our wish, but it needs a good plan. I realised that preparing a plan for minimum of 3000 km with a limit of 300 to 350 km per day for 10 days and that is also in Monsoon season, is really a difficult task while representing to a big Company like Hindustan Motors Limited and covering/touching almost all parts of India by road. India is a big country, so either covering the four points at east, west, north, & south or in other words, covering all important parts/cities of India, will increase the kilometers in thousands. So, I tried to short list some important cities, famous for Industry, Business, Location, Population, Religion etc., which should be covered in the journey. At south, Goa, Mangalore, Bangalore, if possible, Chennai should be covered. This travel should not go beyond 1500 km. In between, there are lots of places of historical & tourist attraction like in Konkan Ganapatipule, Murud Janjira, Sindhudurg or after Goa, Jog Falls, Shrungeri, Beloor, Halebid etc. During this, Bangalore to Hyderabad will be a long distance. From Hyderabad onwards, either we have to go for Nagpur, or we should go towards far east coast. But going to east coast will also increase the total kilometers tremendously. In my opinion, leading towards Agra or Delhi or any important city in North, for 15th August ceremony will be perfect. Thereafter, from Delhi to Mumbai via Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat etc. or Jaipur, Chitodagad, Ujjain, Dhule Nashik & Mumbai will do. In any case, if we go at South up till Bangalore, we can not cover topmost North & North-West, also far East States including East part of UP. If get selected in first 3, We will have to do another preparations for actual travel. We have to carry all the necessary equipments & luggage like Camera, logbook (either physical or Laptop), pen, pencil, markers, A4 size papers, cello tape, electric tape, Stop watch, big Rope 3/4” to 1” thickness & minimum 10 mtrs in length, bundle of 6 mm thick rope, Clipboard for maps, torch, wire with clamp & bulb – can be attached to battery, extra head lamps, wooden Stopper (Uttii) or a Stone, necessary toolkit, extra coolant / water & fuel, Break fluid, Puncture kit, engine Oil, empty bags to collect clay/plants/seeds & other samples (& off course, for Savita’s shopping purpose :P ), extra set of viper, readymade food, small gas or kerosin stove, rice, Daal, sugar, tea, milk powder, sufficient stock of drinking water, dishes/cups/spoons etc, few matchboxes/lighters/candles, cloths useful in travel as well as separate sets for functions, make up kit for both, shoes & sandles-chappals, necessary medicine kit, diary of important phone numbers, mobile, bundles of 10 & 50 rupees notes, packet of coins, small fire extinguisher cylinder, etc.

Our Travelogue

There are lots of memories of our travel within last 14 years and each memory is a separate story. All these stories & experience only supported me to apply for this Great Challenge of Driving held by Hindustan Motors Limited. After 1995, with the help of great moral & active support of my wife Savita, both we traveled together & crossed almost every Ghat of Sahyadri viz. Khandala Ghat, Tamhini Ghat (via Paud), Varandh Ghat (via Bhor), Ambenali Ghat (via Mahabaleshwar), Kumbharli Ghat (via Koyana), Amba Ghat (via Malakapur). Besides, crossed Katraj, Khambatakii & other Ghats on Bombay-Goa highway. We traveled either by two wheeler or four wheeler. Some time carrying kids with us or without them. We always carried instrumental kit & spares for necessary repairs, if required, readymade food &/or a full capacity to prepare food at any place in between, necessary medicines, water, extra fuel & most necessarily required Road Map etc. Around 500 km within 24 to 48 hours is a common thing for us. Apart from this, we also traveled for 600 to 1200 km within maximum 6 days. Few examples of our travel in the difficult Konkan area are as under: 1995 – More than 1200 km by Bajaj Cub scooter 6 days (5 night stay) Myself, wife & 2 years daughter Pune to Kolhapur via Satara, to Panhala to Chipalun to Guhagar via Hedavi & Velaneshwar, to Dabhol to Dapoli to Turavade to Anjarle to Harnai to Mahad to Poladapur to Mahabaleshwar to Wai & returned to Pune Ghats inbetween: Katraj, Khambataki, Amba, Ambenalii 1997 – More than 1000 km by Bajaj Cub scooter 5 days (4 night stay) Myself & friend Pune to Gunjavane (Ta. Velhe) to Bhor to Mahad to Kelashi, to Anjarle to Dapoli to Khed to Chiplun to Karad to Kolhapur to Kodoli to Jyotibaa to Mahagaon (Satara) & returned to Pune. Ghats inbetween: Katraj, Khambataki, Varandh, Kumbharli 1998 – More than 1200 km by Bajaj Cub scooter 6 days (5 night stay) Myself, wife & 2 daughters aged 5 and 2 years (along with two relatives on another scooter) Pune to Gunjavane (Ta.Velhe) to Bhor to Mahad to Kelashi to Anjarle to Dapoli to Khed to Chiplun to Jaigad (near Ratnagiri) to Kolhapur via Sangameshwar & Jyotiba, to Aundh to Satara & returned to Pune Ghats inbetween: Katraj, Khambataki, Varandh, Amba 2000 - Around 800 km by Fiat 1981 model Myself, wife & 2 daughters, 1 son Pune to Gunjavane (Ta.Velhe) to Wai to Mahabaleshwar to Poladapur to Mahad to Kelashi to Anjarle via Turavade, Dapoli, Khed, Chiplun, Satara & returned to Pune via Kondhanpur. 2003 - More than 600 km by Maruti Zen 3 days (2 night stay) Myself, wife & in-laws Pune to Gunjavane (Ta.Velhe) to Bhor to Mahad to Kelashi to Anjarle to Turavade to Mahad to Poladapur to Mahabaleshwar to Wai & returned to Pune
