We have traversed across the country within Maharashtra and then crossing borders into Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu. We have also travelled overseas. We will not do justice to our travel list in a few words but here’s a succinct attempt… Nilesh has always been an avid trekker and he has further honed his trekking skills in the hills and ranges of Maharashtra. To mention a few noteworthy trails, he has had treks in the Sahyadri ranges, Lohagad, Visapure, Peth (Kothaligad), Peb, Rajmachi, Matheran, Malshej Ghat, Ahupe Ghat, Yeoor Hills, Ulhas Valley.Nilesh has travelled through Himachal Pradesh, where he has visited Simla, Kullu and Manali and has had an adventure trip to Rohtang pass. On the international front, Nilesh has explored the Highlands of Scotland. He very distinctly remembers the breathtaking beauty of Loch Nees (Loch is Scottish word for Lake) and Glencoe. He has also sizzled on the tunes of Bagpiper through Edinburgh city. With that ever increasing need to wander, Nilesh has chanced upon one of the scenic beachs of South UK, Eastbourne. There he encountered a place called ‘Seven Sister’ and he considers that place as ‘Heaven on Earth’. Nilesh can guide you to go to the London Attractions and can help to cover maximum attractions in minimum time, a benefit that comes being a Mumbaite. Also he knows where in London you can get a 6ft Dosa, so that your whole family can share one single dish. Nilesh has enjoyed FA cup football matches in St James Park Stadium in Newcastle though he is die hard fan of Manchester United team. Nilesh bets that Newcastle has got amazing pubs and the best night life in UK. His passion for travel does not stop on roadways and extends to the thriving railways as well. On a train journey, Nilesh has been led to one of the best railway museums in the world - National Railway museum @ York. Here he witnessed the marvels of the Bullet train, Euro star, Huge and a strong Ballard Engine. He has been fortunate to also see the Royal trains, which the Queen used to travel. He has been to Canterbury city where he explored old monuments, cathedrals and different museums thus understanding the Roman culture. Effie’s early memories of travel date back right since she was a kid playing on the beaches of Goa. The churches in Goa have always had a special place in her heart. She has also had glimpses of the Portuguese culture in Goa and the temples there. She still remembers the experiences of travelling along the NH 17 then and now, though she thinks the NH4 is a fun route to drive on, to Goa. Effie has rambled in and around places in Maharashtra exploring waterfalls, lakes springs streams – Matheran, Panchgani, Lonavala Khandala, Mahableshwar, to name a few places. She has gone grape stomping and on wine trails in the vineyards at Nasik. Effie has had unique adventures right from living in a tree house in Kerala to flipping in the cold waters on the river Tons while river rafting to rappelling in Uttaranchal. She experiences this thrill when in water, whether it’s jiving in the waters on a beach, parasailing and participating in water sports or when water splashes all over while river rafting. She has fond memories of good food and lovely long walks in Pondicherry tracing French footprints. She has experienced the divinity of nature living on the banks of the Ganga in tents and participating in the ‘Holy Aaratis’ performed in Rishikesh. She thinks the forts and palaces in Jaipur, Udaipur are surely worth a dekko. And is fascinated by wild life after spotting leopards and tigers at Ranthambhore at close quarters. On the international front, Effie has visited Koh Samui and Bangkok in Thailand and thinks one could die for the beautiful ladyboys there. The very thought of the foot massages in Thailand get her relaxed and she longs to have the Thai masseuses in India. She admires the way the sanctity is maintained in temples in Thailand. To conclude, we have trekked together and have spent ‘One with Nature’ time in the jungles of Yeoor. This will be our first journey together as driving partners. We believe that India has many such ‘Heaven on Earth’ quaint moments and are all geared to establish a new travelogue together on the trail we have just begun…
