We are the best candidates because...

India is indeed full of candidates best suited for the Great Driving Challenge, and we want to be the 'Best' among equals. Both of us love driving and sight seeing. We enjoy and appreciate nature in its varied hues, moods and forms. Needless to say, it is a matter of great pride and joy for us to share our travel experience with family and friends. This contest for us is not only about driving the said car. For us, it is the careful and detailed planning and execution of the Great Driving Challenge, which is most important. As a team we compliment each other well; I am good at planning and my wife is great when it comes to execution :). We know we can do it, and prove to be the best candidates..We want to make this a memorable experience for those who love adventure and also for those who love to be behind the wheel, and experience the thrill of seeing the road being swallowed by the wheels miles after miles! I feel driving the car is an experience and 5 mins test drive is not enough for anybody to know a car. Here I am not only representing Mitsubishi to the people, but vice versa too.

Our Travel Plan

I want to use this car on the difficult roads of India to check its road worthiness. Keeping this in mind, have planned a route on which this car will be tested thoroughly, on the Hills, Jungles, Tar road, Metal road,every where. Will start from Mumbai towards Madhya Pradesh via Nashik and Dhule. Indore (city of temples) to Ujjain (Holy Place) to Nagpur (Orange city) via Chhindwara (Hill Station) and Seoni (Land of MOGLI and Pench Reserve Forest). Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of the best tiger reserve near Nagpur. Kuntala water fall is just before Armur visited by wild animals and very few tourists. Gulbarga, Hubballi to Karwar through the dense forest of Anshi National Park to Mumbai via Goa, Kolhapur and Satara, will just be a very good route to fulfill all requirements of TGDC.

Our Travelogue

Last month we drove from Nagpur to Patna via Jabalpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi and came back via Mirzapur, Maihar & Katni. Being in Merchant Navy, my family joins me whenever possible and they enjoy on board and visiting all those places, the ship visits. This summer they spent half of their holidays visiting Singapore, China, Taiwan and South Korea. After 20-25 days my son was tired and weary,and boy! was he thrilled to see an Indian face at Ulsan airport! Visit to Southshields, Edinburgh, London, Blackpool and Bristol (UK) in 2006 was fantastic. My wife remembers when we visited Alaska in 1999. She joined me on board M.V.Great Bless, and to her surprise the vessel went to Casablanca (Morocco), and soon after that we went to Seward (Alaska). There we happened to visit Glacier and saw a full Family of Whales in the open sea!

I have known shams since he was a kid. Always well behaved, hard working and smiling. Shams and I have traveled often on very long road trips and I have been amazed at his driving skills and patience on the road. With Shams in the driving seat, I can really relax knowing I am in very safe hands. I am sure he drives his ship in the same way,being a shippie... I wish him all the best for this great adventure..
