Ready Steady GO !!

Posted By Pavithra
Coin a motto and name for our team, learn to navigate the new blogsite, test blogs, write a bio, film a video… the list was long, the menu varied. Where did one even begin? Harish and I went into a huddle, came up with a dozen names, did not like any and began all over again. Then it struck us. Why not sync the motto and the team name? So there it was. Explore, endure and excel = E3. And that’s what we intend doing. All through, all the way. EXPLORE is what it’s all about, but we will carry our followers (and non-followers too) with us and take them on a virtual journey they will never forget. Guys, watch out for our blog. It’s not something you want to miss. ENDURE we must and that means getting fit. I’m hitting the gym with renewed vigour. So much to do, so little time… adrenaline pumping, energy levels high and motivation peaking… EXCEL we will and we owe this to ourselves and to HML, and Mitsubishi and Zig Wheels, and Experience Commerce (particularly Sandip and his tireless team), the jury and all those who believed in us and voted for us and gave us such feel good testimonials. You made it possible for us. It’s now payback time. So watch us in action and cheer us on!!

This is for Eric and Vanya

Posted By Pavithra
I want to start my journey by first thanking the people who have influenced me deeply and helped to come to this stage in life. Eric, you are not here to witness this, but I can almost hear you laughing with delight and happiness. Wish you were here to enjoy this with me. Eric, all of 82 when I first got to know him stumped me with his youthful thoughts and zest for life. He taught me how to follow my heart, he taught me to laugh and to have fun. He is no more but his thoughts are always with me, guiding me. Thanks Eric, this journey is for you!! Vanya - I'm embarking on a journey that you foresaw and I hope you will spur me to greater heights. Thank you and this is for you too!!

23rd July - The day of reckoning

Posted By Pavithra
It was a bright and sunny day with just that slight nip in the air. ‘Airconditioned’Bengalooru at its best. I woke up with an unfamiliar knot in my stomach. Looked around. What was I nervous about? And then I remembered and leapt out of bed and headed straight to my computer, which had been my lifeline for the past fortnight or so. I logged on. Excitement and exultation for a minute. THIS WAS THE DAY! MAYBE THIS WAS GOING TO BE OUR DAY! The knot came right back as the cardiac monitor stared back at me from the screen. There were still five agonizing hours to go and the tinny beats of the monitor on screen were no match for the fast paced tango my heart was playing. This was just not happening!! I got straight back under my quilt and decided to stay there till it was time. I was being a coward and not ashamed to be one! Came twelve pm and came the time of reckoning. The same computer screen, the same pit in the stomach, only much tighter and much, much more tense. This time I saw the familiar scrabble tiles on screen again and tentatively, slowly, hesitantly I began clicking on them one after the other. Maybe this was the one. No it wasn’t. Maybe the next, or the next or the next. Agonizing moments passed. Our names did not appear. I had already come to the last row, right to left. Then just when I was beginning to lose hope, on the very last tile, on the very last row, our names appeared, almost as an anti-climax because I was beginning to reach out for the tissues by then. But I still reached out for a tissue because I was crying for joy. The journey till here has been in turns, exciting, challenging, excruciating and absolutely wonderful. It has given flight to my wings which I had kept securely tucked in. It has also given credence to my favourite saying and made me walk the talk. Rabindranath Tagore said, “Whenever there is the least sign of the nest becoming a rival of the sky, my mind, like a migrant bird, tries to take…flight to a distant shore.” And never before have I had the chance to live out these words… Thank you TGDC. You have given my wings flight. I know there are miles to go before I can sleep but I’m ready and raring to go!! In fact I’m ready to soar!!

We haven't heard the 'Suprabhatham' chant for many many years. While we were in Chennai and Kerala we used to hear that quite often. First day morning. And as we walk into this nice restaurant at Vashi for breakfast, the 'Suprabhatham' chant welcomes us. Perhaps a good omen on the first stop on first day.
